di:stage

What’s your take on them?

People who read my blog will know I have a Togo figma and he comes with one of the basic di:stage sets, which if I’m honest, I haven’t used once. I even threw away the paper background it came with because I didn’t see a need to it you know? Looking at pictures of other’s “action” shots just came over as fake and motionless with either backdrops or a printed out background to use with them.

I did though find them a great way to cram as many figures on as possible in a very small space, if I’m lucky I can get around 5-6 figmas on one stage which is great for saving space in my tiny little house. Especially when regular figma stands have such wide bases.
I’ve seen a couple of people whose blogs I follow use the clear di:stages as sort of display cases which is a nice idea but I prefer to just be able to grab one if i get an idea or just want to take a look at one

I guess in this post I am coming across as a bit negative about them but from a personal perspective I see no real use for them and you could probably make one with a piece of wood/plastic and the right size drill bit XD;
What I was really curious about though is what you think, Do you own one or several for that matter? And if so (or if not) what’s your take on them as well?

    I have 6 :) I use them for the same reason as you; to save space. I also use them for some action shots if the characters have to stand close to each other, like the pic with Yuki VS Ryoko + Kyon and all the chairs and tables hovering around. I like the fact extra ‘hands’ you get with them to grab stuff you wouldn’t normally be able to use on the stage~ This photo was also done with only one stage btw. I did build the Golgo house thing, so that’s my second. I use one more for K-On, with one vertical where I pasted in the K-On background you get with the figma’s. I use my last two the same way, for the archetype characters with the di: stage BG.

    • @Pasu: 6?! LOL Where did you get them all from?
      I remember your post where you made the Togo stage and it looked really good, but i still dont see a need for them, other than saving space of course – I guess i will try using them for something and try and warm to them a little XD;

    Those diStage are very handy, if you’re doing action scenes (which I doing a lot). Sometimes I even used up all my other stands (be it a normal Revoltech stand, Fraulein or gunplas) for my stories (as I only have one, lol).

    p.s. Marisa is cheering on Reimu over here. =D

    • @bd77: Haha Reimu totally KO’d Seto there c:
      I’d probably be more inclined to use them for other things if they weren’t so bulky?
      I guess i should give them a fair try though!

  3. Same her i dont find them handy. since i prefer the figma sperate along each other, but if it comes to making scenes etc then the stage i guess comes in handy ^^

    • @Fabrice: See i feel the same way!
      I just never found them all that interesting XD;

  4. I never really found an interest for them. The included figma stands and a little ingenuity is probably the only thing one would need to do any pose or frame anyone might one.

    • @Miette-chan: I have to agree and thats actually what i do lol
      Still they are handy for storage if nothing else
